Adams PTA Leadership

  • Kelly Sanford, President

I am honored and excited to serve as the PTA President for the 2026-27 year. My daughter, Petra, is a rising 4th grader at Adams, and our family has truly enjoyed being part of this wonderful school community. I am looking forward to making a positive difference at Adams, building strong connections with families and staff, and working alongside Michelle and the rest of the PTA team to help create meaningful experiences for our students and community.

    Outside Adams
I enjoy traveling with my husband and daughter and exploring new places and cultures together. I’m originally from the Midwest, and I bring that strong sense of community, collaboration, and dedication into both my personal and professional life.

    Professionally
I have spent more than 20 years working in healthcare operations. I currently work for a nonprofit healthcare organization while also running my own consulting business. My professional background has shaped my passion for organization, teamwork, and supporting others—qualities I’m excited to bring into this role.

  • Michelle Mulvihill, Vice President

Our family has loved being part of the Adams family since 2022! This year, three of our four kiddos will be attending Adams – Kindergarten, 2nd grade, and 5th grade. I’ve seen firsthand how passionately and powerfully the PTA supports our students and teachers, and I’m excited to keep contributing and helping our school thrive!

    Outside Adams
In my spare time, I enjoy traveling, teaching Zumba, baking, volunteering as a member of the Junior League of Raleigh, and spending time with family and friends, especially my husband and four children.

    Professionally
I work for Wake County Public Health as a Health Promotion Supervisor, working alongside a multidisciplinary team of public health professionals who help make our community healthier, from providing direct services to addressing policies, systems, and environmental change. Also, I serve as Co-Chair of the Wake County Public School System’s School Health Advisory Council (SHAC) and Co-Chair of the Wake County PTA Council Health and Wellness Committee.

  • Kate Nowell, Treasurer

This is my third year at Adams - my son is entering 3rd grade, and my daughter 2nd grade. We have loved our time at Adams, and I am looking forward to supporting the efforts of the PTA to provide fun experiences for our kids and our wonderful teachers!

    Outside Adams
I work as a Program Manager for an IT company. In my spare time I enjoy traveling and spending time with family, and I love to read!

  • Tory Mocock, Secretary

I am a mother to five - 4th, 3rd, 1st and twins in Kindergarten. I have loved being a part of the Adams community and am excited to serve as the secretary again this year.

    Outside Adams
Outside of keeping tiny humans alive, I work part time for the City of Raleigh as Recreation Instructor and specialist. I also volunteer coach my kids in basketball, cheer, and softball. I am an avid coffee drinker and loves tootsie rolls.
